Sterling Silver WWII Combat Infantry Sweetheart Bracelet

E. Smith Vintage Goods

E. SMITH VINTAGE GOODS are a collection of found objects from around the U.S.  The E. Smith Mercantile family carefully selects items while antiquing on the road.  They focus on US Made, Americana style heritage product that evoke a feeling of nostalgia.

Many of the U.S. servicemen who crossed the Atlantic to fight in World War I were teenagers, and young lovers. These young men initiated the tradition of sending "sweetheart” jewelry back home to their girlfriends, wives, sisters, and mothers. The custom only grew more popular during World War II, when U.S. troops were once again fighting far from home. Some sweetheart jewelry was handcrafted in the trenches, but much of it was machine-made and sold to U.S. soldiers, who then sent it back home. This rare find features an Army Infantry ID badge. Sterling silver with gold foil accents.
