DANESON artisan toothpicks was founded by Lake Huron native, Peter Smith. All of their suppliers, barring Scotch from Islay, are either American or Canadian. The goal is to maintain a minimum 1:1 ratio of Forestland consumption to preservation. In simple terms, if one acre of forest goes into Daneson then, at the very least, one acre goes back to forest preservation. A toothpick is more than just a toothpick. With the right recipe a Daneson can bring back memories, relax the mind, complete a meal or distinguish a character. All toothpicks are subtle at first and build complexity when warmed in the mouth.
CinnaMint Nº 7 toothpicks are part of an American tradition of cinnamon toothpicks albeit ours have a subtle hint of raw mint. This creates a sweet sensation that blends nicely with the warming heat of cinnamon.
Mint Nº 9 toothpicks are part of an American tradition of mint toothpicks albeit this one has a subtle hint of natural peppermint, spearmint, and sweet fennel.
Single Malt Nº16 toothpicks use a recipe with barrel aged Islay single malt scotch from a 200 year old distillery is what makes the Single Malt Nº16 special. Unhurried, it imbues a subtle boozy peaty flavour when warmed in the mouth after several minutes. To be clear, if you're not a scotch drinker you will likely not pick up on the subtlety of Nº16 because it is literally soaked in premium single malt then kiln dried leaving behind flavors deep in the wood of the toothpick.
Bourbon Nº 22’s are steeped with six-year-old barrel aged Kentucky straight bourbon. To say the least, we use the good stuff. Bear in mind no artificial ingredients are used in making our Nº 22’s. Punchier than our Single Malt Nº 16’s, our Bourbon toothpicks are best appreciated by aficionados with a southern state of mind who understand the subtle nuances in fine Kentucky whiskey. Notwithstanding heat and spice you would expect from bourbon, look for notes of smokey oak, vanilla, tobacco, and fruit.
